Wisdom, strength, riches, or Christ? Scripture teaches the folly of boasting in the wrong thing (Jeremiah 9:23-24; 1 Corinthians 1:31). The Bible testifies that God loves righteousness and hates wickedness. All sin is wicked and separates us from God. Every lie, every lustful and covetous thought, every time you’ve taken God’s name in vain, and every moment you’ve done what is right in your own eyes with no thought for your Creator, you’ve sinned. As a result, you are storing up wrath for yourself on the Day of Judgment. God is good and has declared His righteous judgment. He will condemn all sin and all sinners to Hell for eternity. However, in His great love and mercy, God has provided one way of salvation. There is only one way to be reconciled to Him and have all your sins forgiven, one way for you to be found righteous before Him. To receive the gift of salvation you must repent from living for yourself. You must trust in Christ alone. This gracious gift could never be earned or received through wisdom, strength, or riches. “But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world” (Galatians 6:14). Christ came to save sinners. He lived a sinless and perfectly righteous life. Jesus willingly offered Himself as a sacrifice for sin in order to fulfill the predetermined plan of God. Then, He forever defeated sin, death, and Hell for all who trust in Him when He rose from the dead on the third day. Jesus has ascended into heaven and is coming again in glory to judge the world in righteousness. Turn to Him while it is still today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
