Fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence. Their conviction for freedom resulted in untold sufferings for themselves and their families. Of the 56 men, five were captured by the British and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons in the Revolutionary Army. Another had two sons captured. Nine of the fifty-six fought and died from wounds or hardships of the war. Freedom is not easily won. Jesus Christ was imprisoned, beaten and crucified on a cross for our freedom. Our sins condemn us to a life in hell, which is the ultimate prison. Jesus came to die in our place, for our sins, so that you could be set free from the punishment of death and hell. He then rose from the grave defeating death. God (Acts 17:31) commands you to repent (turn from sin) and place your faith in Jesus, who alone is the only one that is able to save you (Acts 4:12) from hell. There is salvation in no other name, so pray something like this: God, I repent of my sins against you. Today I put my faith in you as Lord. Please forgive me of my sins, cleanse me, and grant me everlasting life. In Jesus s name. Amen. For more information go to
