“Saved from what?” Our greatest need is to be rescued from the wrath of God. Some deny or ignore this. Others think they are safe because they are “good people.” Jesus testified: no one is good but God alone (Mark 10:18). All have sinned (Romans 3:23). The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). We are storing up wrath for ourselves on Judgment Day (Romans 2:5). God has lovingly declared our condemnation in advance so that we might repent and flee to the Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of a virgin in the likeness of sinful flesh, although He Himself never sinned. He willingly laid down His life as a sacrifice for sinners. Jesus became sin on the cross and endured the wrath of God on behalf of sinners. Then, He demonstrated His victory over death, sin, and Hell by rising from the dead on the third day. Jesus ascended to the right hand of God the Father in heaven. Christ will return to gather His people who have believed upon Him for salvation and to bring wrath upon all who persist in their sinful rebellion against Him. The message of the Bible is clear: the one who believes in the Son has everlasting life, but the one who rejects the Son will not see life but the wrath of God remains upon them (John 3:36). In order to receive the gift of salvation, God commands you to turn away from living for yourself and to put your faith in Christ alone. For those who have received the gift of salvation, we now live to bring glory to God and await the return of Christ who rescues us from the wrath of God (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10). Come. Believe. Follow. Live.
