For many people the first thing that comes to mind on Thanksgiving is a big turkey dinner. While the turkey dinner and time spent with family is a great tradition, the original intention of the holiday was to give thanks to God for His goodness to us and His abundant blessings. In the book of Psalms we are exhorted many times to, just as it says on the front top banner, "give thanks to the Lord for He is good." Most of us would probably think ourselves to be good too, but are we good enough to go to Heaven? God gave us the Ten Commandments to act as a mirror to help show us how good we really are. LetÍs look at few to see your reflection of goodness. Is God truly first in your life? Do you love Him with ñheart, mind, soul and strength?î Have you made a god to suit yourself? Have you ever used His name in vain? Have you always honored your parents? Have you lied, stolen (the value is irrelevant), or coveted other peopleÍs things? It doesnÍt take long when looking at GodÍs commands to see a true reflection and that we will all be guilty on Judgment Day. The good news is that you don't have to remain guilty and condemned before God. The Scripture quoted on the front continues with "...for His mercy endures forever." God in His Mercy sent His Son Jesus Christ to earth who lived a sinless, perfect life then suffered and died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. He then rose from the grave defeating death, bringing the possibility of eternal life to us. If we repent (turn away from the things we know are wrong) and trust in Him, God will forgive us and grant us everlasting life. God truly is good and His mercy does endure forever. Begin living for God today! A great way to start is by reading your Bible daily (start with the book called John) and obey what you read. For more info please visit: www.turkeytrillion.com.
